STAND 4 PEACE 2007/ 08
STAND 4 PEACE is a club dedicated to raising awareness throughout the school and the community of injustice towards children everywhere.

MAJOR PROJECTS
STAND 4 PEACE’s first major project, the “Brick by Brick” campaign, was completed in the spring of 2005. Working with the “Free The Children” organization, we raised $5,000 to have a school built in the Kono region of the country of Sierra Leone, one of the poorest places on earth.
We are currently working with the “Bruce Peru” organization to build a school/ shelter for the children of Peru, the country with the highest rate of child labour in South America. We are calling the campaign “Peace 4 Peru”. Check out the website.

Upon completion of the “Peace 4 Peru” campaign, a number of teachers and students are planning to travel to Trujillo, Peru during the summer volunteering at “our” school teaching English, arts and crafts, playing soccer and sightseeing.
Last year we became the sister school of TIGITHI SECONDARY SCHOOL in the city of Nanyuki, Kenya. We have already begun to fundraise to provide for the students of our sister school, and part of the money raised will go towards the country’s OL PEJETA reserve, which protects chimpanzees and rhinos. Spectrum students will be given the opportunity to correspond with Kenyan students in the hopes of developing pen-pal relationships
